more quilted goodness...
Today I received a call that I could pick up a few of my small quilts from one of my machine quilters. He's a local retired guy that just does it in the evenings. I havve given him a few edge to edge small quilts. This one is from Baby Fats book. I still have 2 more left to have quilted from the series of 8 I made.
This one has frogs and lily pads....

Highlight quilts of NQA
Here are just a few quilts from NQA that I liked. It was overwhelming all the beautiful designs. It seemed that the Best of Show quilts were painted then embellished and quilted. I couldn't get close enough to take pictures of them. This yellow quilt looks like it has a black border but it is actually cut out. The black is the curtain behind it. Unreal..I am not sure how this technique was accomplished. All I know, is that my quilting is functional and small beans in comparison. Now this quilt is really cool because it has inchies all over it and hand dyed ric rack edging.

NQA and the weekend
NQA in Columbus, Ohio was a blast. My friend Carol and I had a great time. We shopped til we dropped. There were tons of vendors...and hundreds of gorgeous quilts. I'll blog the quilts in the next days. I picked up a few goodies while there....some bright wools, Lecien Mini Muu prints...and Just Pins...pintoppers...for my pincushions...um I had to totally control myself with those as I wanted 3 packs...but they were $14.50 a pack!! so I just bought one...I might start collecting them. Picked up some newer civil war prints to add to my stash.

Purple...
My smallest darling loves to get into my fabric. A couple of evenings ago she grabbed my 1930's charms. I have I bet 1000 prints sorted by color. I started collecting them 12 years ago. Notice what color she grabbed? Purple..."my purple" she says.
I asked her if she'd like me to make a quilt out of the purples for her... and she said yes. So I have another project to get started on.....

Floored...yep that's what I am...
When I arrived home yesterday I found a USPS box on my door step. At first I questioned whether or not I had made a HUGE fabric purchase while I was asleep! I couldn't remember pushing buttons lately...
It turns out the package was from Carla! She had heard that I had kinda been forgotten during the Hugs from Helen swap last fall.
Inside it was filled with all these sweet packages.....

Some pretties
I wanted to blog some pretty stuff tonight. We came back home a day early to finish working/painting the house we are trying to sell. I had some time tonight to blog because my hand hurts too much to hand sew..think of this: I'm chicken pecking all the keys with my left hand. Seriously....anyhow here are the pretties...
I picked up 2 of my quilts from my local machine quilter. He only does edge to edge designs so I don't have him quilt any custom quilts. Still his patterns and precision are superb. This quilt is made from the book "Jelly Roll Quilts" by Pam Lintott. I used a Bali Pop and batik background.
Here's the backing.... This quilt top was started in 2005 I think. I took a class from my friend Karen on value and we used a book by Karen Combs called Combing through your Scraps. It is really 9-patches and split 9-patches in light and dark values that make the basket block.
I picked dragonflies for the quilting because one of the fabrics had dragonflies in it. I hope you can see the quilting.

I finished the binding on this quilt on the road back from South Carolina. It's a pattern called 5 and Dime by All Washed Up Quilts. My DD2 is just over 2 years old and has proclaimed her favorite color is purple..good thing as this quilt has quite a bit of purple in it. Notice her purple sheets and rug. She has purple shoes too and rarely wears any other pair. She's quite a character.
