Amish Country ....

My friend and I set out for Charm, Ohio last Friday.  It's about an hour from where we live.
Our first stop was Mrs. Miller's.

Um, yes I did take this picture on the road from my van.

This is the new cabin rental behind Mrs. Miller's. They are not equipped for quilt retreats :(
It would have been perfect for retreats. Apparently they are renovating the house next door for retreats.
There are at least 7000 bolts of fabric at Mrs. Miller's.

Here's a glimpse..
And what a super duper cute way to display pre-cuts. A bakery counter.
And so many pre-cuts that they have a whole extra cabinet.
A little vignette of Moda
I spied Fruitcake by Moda.
Now as we left Mrs. Miller's these are the sites we saw....
laundry.
And we were driving so slow I could take pictures at the same time.
We were driving 1 mile an hour.
Sometimes my husband and I joke that the biggest traffic jam here is a horse and buggy!

Countryside.
We arrived at Berlin and Country Craft Cupboard.
Sorry they don't allow pictures :(
I would say that it would be a great place for stocking up on your wool or primitive items.

We also stopped at Helping Hands. Again sadly, they do not allow pictures.

Here's some of my stash acquisition.
Lush
I don't usually buy fabric for stash. I usually have a reason i.e. backing, a quilt top or binding etc.
This was a fun stash building trip.

Monluna Mingle and Flutterby by Tula Pink.
More Mingle...

And a little Paula Prass Flights of Fancy aqua and reds.
It was an "exhausting" fabric trip but sooo worth it.
Have you been to Berlin or Charm recently?

No. But I'll have to keep that in mind next time I'm in Ohio. We're headed to Amish Country, PA in a few weeks. Can't wait to go fabric shopping then! You did quite well with your stash building!

I haven't been to Mrs. Miller's in a while! I think a trip to Amish Country is in order for this week or next! Love Country Craft Cupboard too! I could spend hours in there looking at all the goodies! Nice things you brought home with you too! :0)

I live about 20 minutes east of Berlin so I know Mrs. Millers well. Do you go to Grandma Fannies when you are in the area? Not as much fabric, although a very nice selection but upstairs are tons of quilts already made up. My quilt group spends two weekends a year at retreats at Zinck's Inn in Berlin. Always a good time.

Oh I want to go for a visit here! I need to figure out how far away this is from my part of Ohio. You got some beautiful fabrics - happy stitching!

You picked up some cute fabrics! Mrs. Miller's looks like a cool shop. I do agree - the bakery counter is clever.

So very cute. I have never been to Ohio Amish country but do love to visit the shops in the Lancaster, PA area. Now I know why I love pre-cuts so much. Those in the bakery case look delicious!

I miss Amish country. I lived Ohio for 30 some years, then I moved to TX (what was I thinking!!). Thanks for posting pics of your trip.

Oh, I love Mrs. Miller's and the Berlin shops! When we lived in Cleveland (for 26 years!), I'd get down there at least a couple of times a year. Your photos were very nostalgic for me!

Was this a day trip or did you spend the night. I'm wondering where a good place to stay would be. My dd & I are planning a mother/daughter trip with some friends for August. This might be a good place to go. Thanks for the idea. :)

I'm so excited to have stumbled across your blog and this post tonight!! We will be visiting family in Ohio in about 2 wks and I just to my husband, "While we're in Amish country this year, I'd really like to stop at one of the quilt shops." I had no idea how to find one, though. We usually drive through Walnut Creek, Berlin, Wilmot, etc., but I've never been to Charm. Thanks for the tip!
