Progressive Dinner Fresh Fabric Treats & Giveaway !!

Words can not describe how excited I am to be part of the Moda Bake Shop book Fresh Fabric Treats.

There are 15 authors participating in the Progressive Dinner to introduce you to this new book.
I don't know about you, but I had to look up the definition of progressive dinner.
I didn't even know dinners like this existed.
I live in a small town and we have potlucks LOL.
After this virtual progressive dinner...I am itching to try a real one!
Before I get off on too much of a tangent, let me introduce myself to new readers of my blog.
I'm Vickie.
I have been a sewer/crafter since I was 8 years old. I started with basic Barbie doll clothing and journeyed through cross stitch, crochet, miniatures, scrap booking, card making, cake decorating, knitting and quilting. I settled comfortably into quilting about 12 years ago while I was training to be a dentist. I have been a dentist for 10 years, married 11 years and have 2 lovely daughters. My time is little and precious as you can understand. I have always been searching for ways to streamline my quilting time. And that is where my love for Moda pre-cuts grew. I realized that sewing with pre-cut charm packs, jelly rolls etc. was a much quicker way to get right to a project. I enjoy all aspects of quilting, but make a part of it faster, easier and more enjoyable....I am there!
In addition to helping me sew more efficiently, I have found pre-cuts to really work well for my mother-in-law. Over the last 10 years she has had an increasingly more difficult time cutting fabric. She has had carpel tunnel surgery and the less cutting the better.
 Pre-cuts are awesome for this!
They truly are.
With the right pattern she can just sit and sew.
I don't mean for this to sound like an infomercial.

I just really love/believe in jelly rolls and layer cakes.
Can you tell by the picture above?
Where else can you find such wonderful "sweets" without a chance of a cavity??
Oh, Come on, I HAD to put that in there.

{I promise that is the last dentist pun for this entire post}
As I was saying,
I blog my creations and share tutorials to help all moms {and dads ;) } enjoy their quilting time more, the same way I do.
I have been very very fortunate to be a part of Moda and Moda Bakeshop for the last 2 years.
You may recognize some of my recent Moda Bakeshop Projects:

I hope to continue to create more fun projects for the bakeshop throughout 2011 as well.

So back to why you are here.
For fun and giveaways of course!
Here's a sneaky peak at what's inside the new C&T Publishing book.
You can pre-order them now and they are even on Amazon.

I can't tell you much about what I contributed.
I can tell you that it isn't in the picture below.
LOL :)

A few creative peeps ended up on the back cover
...at least I think that is the back cover? I haven't seen the entire book yet.

If you would like to win a copy of the book and my favorite Moda pre-cut, currently a fat eighth bundle.

Leave a comment stating what is YOUR favorite pre-cut and WHY...cause curious minds {mine} want to know :)

The book and pre-cut (fabric line yet to be determined) will be shipped sometime in May when the book is available.

*Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you*

I will randomly select the winner on January 28th.
If you do not respond in 72 hours or I do not have a valid email address, I will chose an alternate.

The Grand Dessert (prize) is a fat quarter bundle, fat eighth bundle, jelly roll, layer cake, and a charm pack (a $200 value!) from Moda.
Leave a comment on EACH tour participants progressive dinner post.

Oh, I love charm squares. Why? Don't really know other than they seem to be the perfect size. You can fit them together to make just about anything!

Hugs,
Gina

Unknown said...

I love layer cakes! Why? Cuz I love a big slice with lots of frosting (or sashing) in between for easy, but bright quilts. Also, 1 layer cake equals 4 charm packs!

Staci said...

I love fat quarters best, because I can make layer cake or charm square patterns with them, and still have a nice bit of fabric left for something else! Wow! I wish you could tell us about your project in the book!

Sonja said...

I buy fat quarters all the time. I take them home and lay them out so that I get a good idea of how I want to use the fabrics...then of course I go back and buy yardage of my favorites. ;0)

Anonymous said...

My fav would have to be fat quarter bundles. I'm a bit of a newbie at all this so I love to do projects with precuts but I also like to have that little bit of extra just in case!

Stephanie said...

To be honest, I have never used pre-cut fabric. I am VERY new to quilting (only on my 2nd quilt). After reading your post, I would LOVE to try any of them!

Aleisha said...

I just used my first set of pre-cuts yesterday. I used a charm pack and put together a baby quilt top in no time. I loved it! I can't want to use them again. Thanks for the great giveaway!

manybooks said...

Oh, I am so excited for this book! I love all precuts... right now I'm using a Layer cake for a project, so I guess it is my favorite right now! I Have a Fat Quarter bundle waiting, so that will be next week's favorite :) I like both of them because of the many options they have, and they are easy to handle, AND I get so many prints with one purchase, and very little waste. I really love ALL precuts! The only ones I haven't tried are Turnovers.

Tracy said...

I'm a fan of the charm packs. After that I really like the turnovers. :)

KD-Quilts said...

My favorite precut is the fat quarter since you get the most fabric. But I mostly use charm packs since it's more affordable and I can buy more of the different lines!

Alassel said...

So far I've used a jelly roll and a charm pack, and they're both fun - the charm packs are very inexpensive, but the jelly rolls have more options especially for strip piecing. :)

robin said...

I like layer cakes - more options with bigger pieces of fabric than, say a turnover or charm pack.

Magicaldamselfly said...

My favorite pre cut is the honey bun right now but I think that is because I'm using it to my a quilt for my daughters bff from high school who is having her first little one in a month. I'm making "The Princess and The Pea" and then a diaper bag to match it.
I have to agree with you on the ease of pre-cuts as I have had a carpal tunnel release done on both hands so this really is a life saver for me.

Happy journey to you all,
Sheila

My love layercakes they make great sashing strips for between big blocks and give a scrappy look in no time at all.

LizA. said...

it's a toss up between jelly rolls (I'm addicted) and layer cakes which I've just started using.

KatieQ said...

It's a tie between jelly rolls and layer cakes. They are a great way to have a large selection from a particular fabric line while being affordable and versatile.

Chelsie said...

Okay, so I love fat quarter bundles because of all the beautiful scraps I'm left with but the most tempting for me are the jelly rolls. :) They just look so pretty with all the fabrics showing and swirled around. Mmmm...

I love fat quarters! I like to make bags & love that a fat quarter gives me a big piece to use big or cut up. But I have some turnovers I'm itching to try!

Right now I'm loving on the fat 8ths, But FQs can be cut in half to make 2(!!) sugar free dessert rolls, so really either of them work for me ;)

I like the jelly rolls the best...great way to make amazing strip skirts for my 3 daughters! Have to think of something else to make for my son though...he's not really into skirts...

I love charm squares! I think I just really like the variety of prints, and the general shape of squares--I'm drawn to them.

I'm slowly making my way through different pre-cuts and enjoying them as I learn to use them. So far, my favorites are the fat quarters, but that's just because I've been using them for a longer time and my favorite quilt was made with fat quarters.
Cheers!

Sarah DeSalvo said...

I love charm packs. Small size, small price, lots of potential. Not too big of a commitment :-) but lots of different things you can make with them (especially if you buy 2 or more!) I love making table runners/toppers with charm packs. So much fun!

Anonymous said...

I love precuts. At any given time I have to large tubbies. Mostly jelly rolls. I travel a lot w/ my husbands job. GB his heart, in goes the machines, the pre-cuts and laptop. It's a lot easier with instant downloads and pdfs and off we go. And oh my if I have to fly, it's a fortune. I take pre-cuts and if I need extra clothes I buy them there. A woman must prioitize. The last job, hobby lobby told me to go to the quilt shop just up the road a bit. LOL 136 miles up the road. I love my jelly rolls!

My favorite precut is definitely the charm pack! I love that for less than $10 I can have a small piece of each fabric in a line. It gives me a chance to play with each print before I decide what I would like to buy yardage of!

Congrats on being a part of the book!

Andi said...

I love a fat quarter stack because it has the most fabric in it!!!
Andi :-)

Michelle said...

Jelly rolls are probably my favourite, followed by charm squares then layer cakes!!! Why jelly rolls because I have more of them in my stash and three books full of gorgeous patterns.

adnohr said...

I usually can't decide and end up with a fat quarter bundle when I can!

Terri. said...

I've always used fat bundles for precut and I recently got my first jelly roll but have not used it yet. I buy fabric that I think is pretty and I never know what I will do with it when I buying it, fat quarters are bigger pieces which gives me more options.
tshaw6580@yahoo.com

JuliePickles said...

When I can afford it I go for a fat quarter bundle because the pieces are so large that you can do so much more with them. When my budget is tighter I go for layer cakes. They can do everything a charm pack can and then some and you can also get lots of 2.5" pieces from them. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Tracy said...

I love all the precuts but I mostly end up buying the charm packs due to good pricing.

Heather said...

I love layer cakes - they're great to use for stack and slash blocks and also yield the same as 4 charm packs in case you want to make something larger than 40 5" squares will yield.

bethanndodd said...

Layer cakes are my fav (for now!) I love that I can show off larger prints and also cut some of the smaller ones for a more interesting look (for quilts). There are so many ways to use a layer without wasting too much fabric! Although, a girl that didn't love a fat quarter bundle would be crazy (so much fabric love)! Thanks so much for the giveaway! beth.dodd(at)att.net

I am a big fan of Jelly rolls and Layer cakes, but would love to try a fat eigth bundle! It does make getting started a lot easier (I too have had carpul tunnel surgery on both hands) and faster! Thx for the chance to win :)

I love charm packs. You can make a quilt in no time using them. I've tried jelly-rolls for the first time a little while ago and I think I'm getting addicted.Nevertheless I love all pre-cuts they are really great!

Thanks for being a stop. I love fat quarter bundles but I usually can't bring myself to buying that often. I love jelly rolls as my mother gave me a book that uses these.

tusen said...

So nice to meet you. Congratulations on the book.
I am a newbie and I've just opened my first charm pack, but I can already see that layer cakes would be great, too and I can imagine for some project with irregular shapes fat quarters would be even more useful.
(so, I cannot decide yet, as you can see ;))

My current favorites are fat quarter bundles. I think because they are so versatile. You can do strips, squares, whatever. And they look so pretty all folded and bundled up.

Peach Rainbow said...

Congrats!
I love charm squares - I think they are cute and I love jelly rolls as you don't have to cut long strips of fabric.
Then I love FQs because they have lots of fabric!
Thanks for the chance :)

Jodi said...

Congratulations on the book and lovely to meet your blog.
I am very new to quilting. Have only just started my first quilt late last year. I am partial with my minimal experience to Fat Quater bundles - I like having plenty of extra fabric for adding into other things along the way.

I love the fat quarter packs, because it's enough material to make a full quilt all on its own! My problem, though, is always working out what will showcase all the lovely fabric designs!

Congrats on the book, and I look forward to seeing your design in it!

Maribel said...

I love Jelly Rolls best. I haven´t had a Fat Quarter Bundle yet, so I don´t know, if this could be my new favourite precut!
Congratulations for beeing published!

Kristy said...

I love jelly rolls or layer cakes for most projects but you can't beat a charm pack for a cost efficient way to get some of an entire range or a fat quarter bundle for a larger project.

Maria Wallin said...

First and foremost, major congrats on the book, it looks fantastic!

My favorite pre-cut would have to be the jelly roll, as they're so conveniently sized and so easy to work with for many different projects (I have a ton of quilts I want to make with jelly rolls ^^). Tightly followed by the FQ bundle, because let's face it, who can resist THAT much fabric! <3

I also have to take this chance to say how much I love your blog, I'm a really infrequent commenter normally though so I figured I should toss it in here, you're a fantastic quilter! Love your work, it's such an inspiration =)

Charm packs for me, jelly rolls for my young seamstress :) both are so very versatile! wyofry at gmail dot com

MARGA'S HAPPY CRAFTS said...

Hi Vickie, I like Moda Bake Shop, your pre-cut are fascinating it is a fun way to have a complete collection at low cost, and so able to make each project with a different collection.
Which the pre-cut that I like most?, it is difficult to decide, one the fat quarter bundle is great, a lot of fabric, this option is ideal for those collections that like so much, that grieves to cut them, and I prefer seeing them in my stash , But really to work with fabrics in a project, the best are a jelly roll, and a layer cake of the same collection with both practically any project is practicable.
I cross my fingers, I hope to be lucky.
Regards from Spain.

Catherine said...

Congratulations on being in this great book. Looking forward to seeing more of what's inside. My favourite precut would have to be the fat quarter bundle because you can make more than one project with them. Precuts are such a time saver.

Pontos da Flávia said...

End of last year I bought my first pre-cut. It was a jelly roll. I loved it, because I was planing to do a table runner in stripes and it worked our really well. Besides, with the pre-cut you do have all fabrics of a collection! And, with the left-overs I complemented the deco doing some cushion covers!

Angie said...

My favorite is fat eighths because they feel like bigger pieces of fabric but you get more fabrics for the same amount of money.

This progressive dinner thing is so much fun. I like reading all blogs and discover new nice things. Because of all possibilities I like FQ bundles best, but jelly rolls are the most simple to work with.

It would be a toss up between charm squares and jelly rolls! Have a great pattern that uses both and there are many more out there. Makes for great quilts.

How to pick a favorite? I have never tried a turnover, tho I have 2 here waiting. Layer cakes, it's quadruple the yummy charm packs! And you can slice them all up and make so many fun things with them! My BF can't understand why you cut everything up and sew it all back together, LOL. Congrats on the book and Love your blog!

feuerblume said...

I love Honey Buns, because they support strip-piecing so well. And I prefer them instead of Jelly Rolls, because the narrower strips look better on small projects like tablerunners. Unfortunately Moda does not offer Honey Buns for every collection.

Congrats Vickie on being published in a book, I am proud of you. I have been reading your blog for a long time now. (well over a year, and way before you switched your name)
I have to say my fave precut must be a layer cake, but i have only ever owned three. I have used probably 4 or 5 jelly rolls, and more charm packs. I have never owned a fat eighth, or a fqb. (they are too much out of my price range, someday maybe) I only buy as needed, which, is sad :O( Thanks for the chance, and again, congrats!!

I have a confession...I have NEVER used a pre-cut! I tend to buy yardage instead. That way I know I will like it. There are some fabric lines that I like most of the patterns in, but not all. So I think that has turned me off of buying a pre-cut, as what would I do with the pieces I don't like?! Thanks for another fun blog hop, and chance to win. Congrats on being in the book!

Oooh, that's a hard one...maybe layer cakes because they're so versatile. Congrats on getting published, that's a serious achievement! Have a great weekend :)

Congratulations on the new book! I can't wait to see it. I don't have a ton of experience with precuts...I'm eyeing some fat eighth bundles. Right now I'd say layer cakes are my fav for the variety of fabrics. Haven't purchased a FQ bundle, though. I'm sure I would love that!!

Janet said...

It would be so easy to say that fat quarters are my favorite precut, and in so many ways they are - mainly in that you get more so you can do more! Same theory with layer cakes - bigger surfaces to work on. Lately, tho, half of what I've pieced involves 2 1/2" strips, so for speed alone, jelly rolls cut way down on my cutting time. If I can't pick all three, I guess I'll pick jelly rolls!

Congrats on being in this "must have" book, and thanks for all the Bake Shop patterns and for the opportunity!

Love the place quilting has in your very busy life... our group was together yesterday, with four newbies, and we talked about the fact that we have all had 'seasons' in our life, where our ability to devote time to quilting has had to adjust, but was never, NEVER, eliminated... as for my favorite cut, I'd say the layer cakes... there's something so interesting to me about the different ways they can be 'sliced'... congratulations on the book, and I really enjoyed your blog... will be back...

Ruth said...

I guess my favorite would be charm pack (because that's the only kind I've every used)! I love them for charm quilts as in only one of each fabric in the whole quilt. I used them to make a tumbler charm quilt that won a ribbon at a quilt show.

My favorite precut is jelly-roll; and so far I have not found any here in Seoul, where I presently live. Have to cut my own! I think I prefer them as I do like to combine piecing and appliqué. Made 3 wall-hanging tops since summer that way. Congrats on the book! hesabella(at)gmail(dot)com

Thearica said...

I LOVE!! your Chocolate Stars quilt!!!!

I really like Layer Cakes because they show so much more of the fabric design.. I love to frame them with another fabric and put them together... Love how it looks! :)

This is an awesome Progressive Dinner!!

Cindy said...

"If" I had to choose a favorite precut (and I'd be hardpressed to do so) I believe it'd have to be the jelly roll.

Well, first off, I have "my own" rolls that are just like jelly - sort of wobbly - if you get my drift..LOL

BUT - fabric jelly rolls - besides being cavity free, I can get on a "roll" by just putting them together immediately with no rhyme or reason to the placement. THEN - with all the jelly roll quilt books now availabe - there are endless possibilites!

Michele said...

My favorite precut is a charm pack because I like to mix more than one line of fabric when I make a quilt and charm packs allow me to do that easily. Later today I plan on posting some pictures of some blocks I'm working on using two different charm packs :) Thanks for the chance to win.....I love your designs :)

I really like Fat Quarters cause there is always a little extra left for another project.

Unknown said...

I really love the layer cakes! They are affordable, and you can get lot's of different sized pieces from them, and they're big enough to be used for applique as well. I love the bigger bundles too but can't afford them most of the time!

yesterday my fave was jelly rolls but today it is layer cakes. It all depends on the idea of the day!

JayTee said...

I love layer cakes...they are great for a quick project or can be cut into 5" sq., etc

Debbie said...

I love the fat quarters and the charm squares. The book looks like lots of fun. Congrats for being in it. I love so many of the designs on Moda Bake Shop that it is hard to decide what to do next. Thanks for a chance at the giveaway.

Congratulations on being in the new book! I really enjoy you blog. I like any pre-cut it saves me a lot of time.

Ramona said...

I really like fat quarters as you can easily cut it down to size and I like having material left over to make something else. I also love charm packs.

Erin said...

I would have to say layer cakes, because you get the full line, and can cut it in a variety of ways to do a lot of projects!

Barbara said...

Right now my favorite pre-cut is a charm pack because I'm currently having fun making lap size quilts with half-square triangles. I love half-square triangles!

Darlene B said...

I usually buy fat quarters because I can cut them up into any size I need for my current project, but still get a huge variety of patterns in each quilt. However, your pile of jelly rolls looks very appealing! My dentist would probably love if fabric jelly rolls were the only sweets I enjoyed!

Bea said...

I think right now my favorite is charm packs because I've been using them left and right, but I think I enjoy all the precuts because I like to sample the whole line and can't really afford that each and every time. Thanks for this chance to win.

I am really enjoying being introduced to so many new blogs. How fun! My favorite is still fat quarters. I like to have extra fabric in the case of mistakes or to make more than one project.

Jennie said...

My favorite is fat quarters at the moment. Never know though, that could always change.

Anonymous said...

It's hard to choose, but I think I love the Layer Cakes most, they're so versatile and lately I'm loving the look of what I call "Chunky" quilts made with BIG blocks :)

Melanie said...

OK- I love them all, But when ever I go to a quilt shop I pick up a couple of charm packs because they are great to share with quilt journal friends. They are the least expense and portable to ship. Fat quarters are pretty great too.

jandafarns said...

i'm a quilting newbie...making my first quilt right now from jelly rolls.

Lee said...

I love the layer cakes for sure - because who does not love cake! And I love that i can cut them up into cute charms or use as is for quilt bright quilts. Thanks!

Gina said...

Hi Vickie, I love layer cakes. I can cut charms from them easily and I always need more than the 40 charms in a charm pack. You have great projects.

Michele T said...

I really like fat quarters bundles but I have tried Jelly Rolls and Charms too. Thanks for the chance.

Keeper of the Skies Wife said...

I love fat quarters...just because I can cut them up how I want. But, I do love me some jelly rolls!!!

Congrats on being featured in this book...how awesome!

Darlene said...

Congratulations on being published in this "must have" book. How very exciting!!! Love your existing projects in the Moda Bake Shop and can't wait to see what your next creation is.

Depends on what the current project is as to what my favorite precut is :-) I do appreciate the precuts that don't require me to do a lot of cutting for a project and can whip up a quilt quickly - Jelly rolls and charm packs. But for applique - Fat 1/8s are great!

CRR said...

Congratulations! you deserve to be part of this book to be very beautiful.

Katie said...

I love fat quarters because you can make so many things with them and still have a little fabric left over for your stash! ;)

cathy said...

I can not wait to get my hands on the new book, I love all the moda chefs

Vicki said...

I haven't tried out all the pre cuts yet (another newbie) but my fav at the moment are jelly rolls cos I have a new book which uses them.

Diana said...

I love fat 1/4's and charm packs, Congrats on the book

Amber said...

I am just getting into quilting but I think so far I go to charm packs and jelly rolls

Lyn said...

My favorite are fat quarters because I can make something larger with them, or several smaller somethings. I do also like charms and layer cakers but I really wish the smaller precuts did not have pinked edges...it makes them hard for me to see well to line up precisely with the ruler when rotary cutting.

Annmarie said...

Layer cakes are my favorite because it's so easy to cut them into strips or charms and quilts go together fast if you just use them as is.

Nanbon44 said...

I haven't bought many pre cuts other than FQs which I will admit I am so hooked on, I just love getting a bundle of surprises. I have never bought a Jelly Roll but it is on my want list...

Anonymous said...

I love FQs. I so often like doing big blocks and large applique, and FQs give me so many more options...

Kudos on the book!!!

Sew Sane Jane said...

I have mostly used jelly rolls and charm packs previously. I bought my first layer cake the other day and am loving it too! I love them all so its hard to choose, but I guess jelly folly are my current fav. They seem pretty darn versatile; i've used a few different pattern styles with them and they work pretty well!

Allison said...

my favorites are fat quarters, but I also like layer cakes as an affordable way to sample an entire collection.

tpott said...

Happy Sunday to you and yours;> I can't decide but I can give you my top 3. #1 fat quaarters(the most fabric) #2 jelly rolls, #3 Layer cakes. As always getting my hands on all fabric is an enjoyable expirience. Thanks for participating and for the chance to win!!! :)

Jewel said...

My favorite pre-cut is Fat Eigths because it is just enough without too many leftovers.

The Old Crow and Little Bird said...

First, thank you for doing this and congrats on being a "chef".. I can't wait for the book to come out. I LOVE layer cakes because you can make them into soooo many wonderful "dishes"...lol. Have a great Sunday!

Jessica Christensen said...

My favorite precut is undoubtedly the FQ pack. I want to get one of each fabric in a line, but I also want enough to do several projects with them. But I do love jelly rolls and layer cakes too -- so many things you can do with those that are fast and easy.

Joy said...

Not only is this a great way to try to win, but what a great way to find new to me blogs. I am totally checking your stuff out at Moda! thanks!

Pamela said...

My current favorite pre-cut is the jelly roll. I love the way they look - all rolled up, nice and neat. Plus there are so many fast and fun patterns to make. Congratulations on the book - can't wait to see it in person!

Nicole said...

I've only bought fat quarters in the past, so those are my favorite right now. I'm itching to buy a jelly roll though, no reason, they just look like fun.

Laine from JustPlainLaine.com said...

Jelly Rolls, Jelly Rolls, Jelly Rolls...so versatile - can be cut up and put into a smaller recipe, can be used as is, and can accent a a layer cake with ease.

Can't wait to see your recipe in the new book! Congratulations.

Pam Hunter said...

Charm packs, jelly rolls - that I purchase in "two's" ... one to look at one and to use. (Hey, that rhymes!)

Congratulations on being included in such an inspiring book. You deserve it!

Good luck to everyone.

Pam

Mary Grace McNamara said...

I just used my first jelly roll and they are pretty cool, but I think charm packs would have to be my favorite precut. I have used them for tote bags and other projects with very little if any waste and I just love having the variety of the whole fabric line without having to purchase yardage of each fabric! Precuts ROCK!

Grats on the book! I thought I loved fat quarter bundles until I got my first jelly roll for a Quiltalong project this week and I am in love with these yummy strips :) So Jelly Roll it is for me now!

Jocelyn said...

I have only worked with Charm Packs, so I guess they are my favorite for right now. I like using Charm Packs because they are so accurately cut into 5" squares that can be used in many patterns. Thanks for the invitation. The Progressive Dinner has been so much fun!

Beth said...

I love Fat Quarters cause I want LARGE pieces...probably because I love novelty fabric so much! I need to get my hands on Hideaway RIGHT AWAY!

More dentist puns, please!

Donna said...

My favorite precut is fat quarters. I have used both charm and layer cakes with good results. The precuts are super!

Anonymous said...

Charm Packs! They are an inexpensive way to acquire new collections. They create pre-coordinated small projects; just add some solids to make larger ones. I can leave them whole for fast easy piecing or cut them up for more complex patterns. AND have you noticed that designers often use the same colorways and styles in all their collections? I thought so :)

Aleta said...

I really like jelly rolls!!!

harleywife57/ Mickey White said...

Hi ! thanks for the chance and the fun time ! My favorite are jelly rolls because you can do so much AND I used jelly rolls for my 2nd ever quilt !! I haven't been doing this as long an you professionals ! I just used fat quarters on a project , and now I'm liking those alot , too !!!

Annette said...

I really like charm packs and jelly rolls....the combination of the two allow me to do most projects with very little cutting! Woohoo!! Congratulations on the new book.

Karen said...

I haven't used any precuts in my quilts yet, but I've been collecting Tula Pink's in an attempt to make a quilt for my sister using charm squares. I still need one or two more before I can do what I'm thinking of. Thanks and congratulations!

Lori said...

I love jelly rolls...they make great sized quilts! Thanks for a chance to win.

Kim said...

I wish I could tell you my favorite pre-cut, but I've only ever used charm packs. Just learning to quilt for now. :)

Becky (My Fabric Obsession) said...

I love FQ stacks. They are great for the indecisive person like me! I get enough of the whole line to do multiple things with. :) Congrats on the book!

Mary said...

Congratulations on being included in the book - I'm anxious to see all the projects.
I've been reading you blog for at least a year now and want to thank you for all the eye candy and inspiration you provide. I never realized that you are a dentist. I always wondered what in the heck you were doing in your profile picture.
I love all the precuts, but would probably pick jelly rolls as my favorite. There are so many wonderful patterns for them.

Monica said...

I love jelly rolls! I make what I call a Lazagna quilt. Sew random lengths together, quilt and call it done! ;-)

Lee Ann L. said...

currently, my favorite is the layer cakes. I think there is a lot one can do with 10" squares. To be honest, I've only worked with Layer cakes so far! I will soon be playing with jelly rolls; so, we'll see how I feel about those! :-)

Mommarock said...

Well, I am going to have to say fat quarters as it is the only one I have ever worked with, but I would love to work with one of the others, and give it a try so I can give my educated opinion on those ;)

krisgray said...

I love FQs. I can do a large quilt guided by any number of patterns and books. Or, there are bags and wall hangings and any number of smaller projects that use portions of FQs with some leftover for other projects.

Cindy said...

I'm very new to quilting but so far have used charm packs and jelly rolls. There seem to be a lot of simple patterns out there for both. Simple is good right now. ;-) Congrats on being a part of the book!

Johanna said...

I love fq bundles because I am always afraid to run out of fabric and with those fq that's not going to happen. They do take a lot of closet space though, so fat eight are the better way to go :)
Thank you for hosting!

Jan said...

Congratulation on the up and coming book. I know this may sound silly but I am not sure what pre-cut pattern means. I am new to quilting and all the terms but I love all the heart quilts on your blog.

I think I like layer cakes the best because they are so versatile. Can't wait for this book to come out! I'm going to go pre-order right now.

I am currently stuck on Jelly Rolls. I'm not sure why! I'm getting quite a little collection of them.

I'm pretty new to quilting. I've only used a Jelly Roll. I plan on doing some more soon and taking advantage of precuts if possible!

sewfunquilts said...

Thanks, Vicki for the chance to win! Congrats on the book and can hardly wait for it to be here. I love charm squares! You can make soooooooo many things with them, fabrics already coordinated, and zap..you're finished and ready to start something else.

ModernDayMama said...

I love jelly rolls! Why? Just the name itself -- jelly roll, yum! But for sewing purposes, I love them because there's something about that rolled up bundle of so many different fabrics that the possibilities seem endless! When you start with playful materials, you'll end up with a fantastic project!

Marie said...

I love jelly rolls and layer cakes. I am enjoying the progressive dinner and my congrats to all of you for being included in the new book.
