Thoughtful Thank You

This was the thoughtful thank you from my sister and Michele for the hosting the baby shower.
Her and Michele went to the local quilt shop and asked for a fabric line that I wouldn't have ;)
They recommended Fandango.
Each of us were given different gifts that were something we'd like.
I was so excited to get a charm pack.
I didn't expect anything.
In addition to that, they included a candle for us to light when my sister is in labor.
I am sure they told me why I should light it, but there was so much going on that day...I've forgotten the actual meaning. At any rate, I know I will light it when the time comes.
I get this odd feeling that once my sister has her baby...I will be more home sick for Iowa then ever before.

What a lovely gift. And yes the baby coming will make you more home sick. My sister lives 15 hours away and the birth of my niece made it hard.

What nice thoughts and nice gifts :) I just posted a small quilt I made with Fandango.....it's not what I would normally use either, but I love it :) Carmel Corn is always fun :) How thoughtful.....kind of you too, to host a baby shower!

You're from Iowa originally! Me, too! Although I'm still here. :) My big sis moved to KC over a year ago, it's tough not seeing them as often as we used to, but we both started blogs and we both just started sewing again. We have toddlers and kindergartners so we now have a little time for sewing. And I just bought her the Moda Botany charm pack so we could both work on a springtime project together!

That's a really great idea for a gift!
I know when I had my daughter my sister came home more often then she had in years, so I'm going to have to go with probably!

That was very thoughtful of them! When you remember the meaning of lighting the candle, let us know. I'm curious... :) Maybe it's for "good energy" for the Mama in labor.

That's a great gift, super thoughtful of them. I just love all those bibs etc that you made. I need to make some, I have co-workers having babies like crazy.

Hi Vickie, I am from Iowa and right now we have tons of snow. I'd be glad to send you some as a reminder of Iowa at this time of year. LOL

Here is one of the reasons. Very nice indeed. Congrats on becoming an Aunt. Pat

Candle Lighting: Have each guest bring a candle. Set them up on a single table or all around the room. You can have each guest light their candle and say a blessing for the mother-to-be or something positive to help her confidence. Another way to do this is to actually send each guest home with a small candle. When the mother goes into labor, a phone tree is started and all the candle holders are notified to light their candles and think good thoughts as the woman labors.
