New fabric from market in my shop...

I brought quite a bit of fabric back with me since I was able to drive to PIttsburgh.

I decided to share it on my etsy site.

Brand new yet to be released Figures fat quarter bundle....

there's just one...but I have more on the way!

I snagged these just released 1930's reproduction charm packs of Penny and Friends by Darlene Zimmerman.

These are darling...

One set of the new Kokka IRome fabric.

I will have the spring bundle in my shop as well as all the light or

 low volume prints in the line.

A little late ? giveaway....

My quilt market post is a little late.

I spent 2 1/2 days with my good friend Stefanie

We found many great restaurants and walked all over the strip.

The first night we had Proper pizza and salad.

It was so good.

On Thursday we went to School House and started with Carolyn Friedlander.

Her quilts were very thought provoking.

How did she construct them?

I was determined to get her new book that is being released very soon

called

Savor Each Stitch

Here are a few more of her book quilts.

I absolutely love the Horizon quilt made with various solids.

And this denim quilt looks difficult but I really want to try it.

Later in the day we met up with Holly Holderman of Lakehouse fabrics

and her friend

Rosanne Kermes of Rosebuds Cottage.

Holly needed help packing swag bags for her school house.

We were looking for a break and this was just the ticket.

Holly had Cheezit's, fresh raspberries and peanut m and m's. 

I couldn't pass that up so I rolled up my sleeves and went to work.

120 bags later, we were done.

Holly was awesome and gave me a pattern and

 a bundle of her low volume fabric for a giveaway here on my blog.

The fabric roll is 6" x 42" of 5 different fabrics.

In addition, I added a few more goodies

 including a Moda candy of Best Day Ever by April Rosenthal and

 a heart template from Edyta Sitar.

appliance obsession

Oh no not me...

my not so little cat "porkchop"

He tries to get in the dishwasher...

and I thought that drove me nuts...

until I caught him in the washing machine.

All I can say is, "really cat??"

Stack Shuffle Slide : a review

 I was recently asked to review the new book Stack, Shuffle and Slide. 

      Although I haven't had much time to make a block, I paged thru and read the techniques that Karla uses. 

Several could be made with fat quarter cuts. Fat quarters are one of my favorite fabric cuts. 

This book really highlights some easy methodical techniques to make quilts with a modern look.  

I would like to make at least 3 of the quilts in the book. 

3 seemed to be my minimum to purchase a a quilt book. 

Do you have a minimum requirement to buy a book like I do?

Loving this Quilt book

Martingale has recently asked me to review a few of the newer quilt book releases.

Civil War Legacies II was the first.

At first, I paged through it just to look at the pictures. 

Do you do that?

I mean I judge nearly every single quilt book by the quilt pictures.

The book might be about a technique, but I usually skip that until I

see what the author designed with those techniques.

In this particular book I found 4 quilts I wanted to start today...

And one that I have already made!!!

The problem is, where do I start.

That is always a good sign to buy a particular book.

okay maybe for just one block to start....

30's my first love...

1930's reproduction fabrics have always been my first love. 

Most recently the newest Old New 30s Collection by Lecien arrived in my etsy shop. It was 2 months earlier than I expected. That never happens!!! 

It was pretty exciting. 

I started to cut bundles but I couldn't resist cutting some pieced circles. I haven't sewn them yet.... But they are sooo pretty all lined up. 

Anyhow, that's what I've been up to. More fabric will be arriving in the coming months. Super excited about that too.
